G5 Montec Broadheads
G5 Montec Broad heads
Let me just start out by saying I have tried multiple broad head products out there. I am very picky of the results I want, and the G5 Montec was the only one I have found to deliver the proper results. You should make sure that a broadhead is not too heavy for your arrow or to light. For my setup I use 100 grain broad heads.

Second you want a broad head that meets the proper requirements for your area you hunt, in terms of weight and cutting diameter. Now once you have the right broadhead you have to find one that spin tests correctly and flies properly. The G5 montec has met all this criteria with me. The Montecs land exactly where my field tips land, with no bow or arrow adjustments.
The G5 Montec is a cut on contact design which in my opinion is the best design. Don’t get me started on expendables. The G5 Montec is a one piece design that penetrates deep, meaning I have achieved pass through on all the animals I have shot with theses heads. The one piece design makes it tough and reusable. I have been able to recover every broad head I have shot and re-sharpen it on the sharpening stone. I can re-use it after spin testing of course. Last spring I shot a black bear that was up against a tree. The broad head went through the spine, sternum, and rib then lodged into the tree.

I was able to recover, sharpen, and re-use the G5 Montec. One neat feature of these broad heads is they come in a pre-season design that is the same head, just dull and black in color. This is real handy as you can test your broad head flight without dulling your hunting heads! I practice with the pre-season heads before I go out into the field.
UPDATE: Montec came out with new Carbon steel broad heads that are sticky sharp right out of the box.
