Boone and Crockett Club
Boone and Crockett Club
The Boone and Crockett Club is North America’s oldest wildlife conservation organization. The club was formed in 1887 by Theodore Roosevelt and George Bird Grinnell as they were worried that big game in America was being hunted to extinction.
The club was named after Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett who were avid American frontiersmen. The mission of the Boone and Crockett Club is to conserve and manage wildlife including big game along with its habitat. The club also worked towards encouraging hunting while maintaining the highest ethical standards to ensure Fair Chase (pioneered by the club) and sportsmanship across North America.
Membership to the Boone and Crockett Club was restricted to only a hundred men and one needed to have shot at least three large game such as bison, bear, cougar, caribou, and moose in order to qualify. Club members pledged to collect statistics on hunting and animals as well as promote hunting as a sport.
The Boone and Crockett Club was instrumental in the creation of several National Parks that include Yellowstone, Denali, Glacier, and others. The club also championed for various conservation bills including the Yellowstone Protection Act, Timberland Reserve Bill, Lacey Act, and Migratory Bird Treaty Act, among others.

The club website offers help on measuring different game such as elk, deer, bear, cougar, etc. Each trophy shot by you needs to be measured in specific ways that could include measuring the skull, horns, etc.
The club provides the Awards minimum score as well as the All-Time minimum score. In case your trophy meets only the Awards minimum score, your score will be listed in their Awards book. In case your trophy scores meet the All-Time minimum score that may be higher or same as the Awards minimum score (based on the club’s chart), then your score will be listed in the Awards book as well as in the "Records of North American Big Game".
You also need to follow prescribed procedures related to trophy entry requirements to ensure your scores are officially listed in the records of the club. The Boone and Crockett Club accepts scores for trophies hunted with a bow, hand gun, rifle, etc.
