Company History
All Leupold products are manufactured by Leupold and Stevens, Inc. This American
company was established way back in 1907 and still remains a fifth-generation, family
owned business. The company currently has over 750 employees and manufactures all
products at their state-of-the-art plant in Beaverton, Oregon.
The idea of manufacturing such optics took place more than a century ago by Fred
Leupold, a German immigrant involved in repairing of optics used for surveying
equipment. He later teamed up with Adam Voelpel who was his brother in law as well as
John Cyprian Stevens, an engineer and innovator.
The company’s business expanded by leaps and bounds during the Second World
War when the partners designed optical equipment for the U.S. army and navy. The
company created waterproof equipment that was both innovative and rugged, which
turned the company and its products into an iconic brand in coming years.
